About the bride

I am 28 with two little boys. Wesley and I have lived together for a year and a half! The moment I met Wesley, I immediately fell in love and I knew we were meant to be together! I feel we complete each other in many different ways. We are lovers, but also best friends! We can love together, laugh together, cry together, and have fun together. He is everything I was ever looking for in a man! I will love him for the rest of my life with my whole heart. It’s a great feeling to be head-over-heels in love with the man you married!

About the groom

I am 33 years old with two little girls. I loved Estelle even before she knew that I was interested in her. She is a lovely, beautiful and very intelligent person. The two of us are amazing together - we complete each other. When we finally got together and even before that I knew that we were meant to be together and that she was the ONE and ONLY one for me! I wanted to get married to her as soon as possible, because I love her with everything in me.

How did you meet?

We’ve known about each other for years but never really spoke, until Friday 9 October 2009 where we accidently ran into each other. Wesley fell for me then and there, but I didn’t know! After that for about 3 months he looked for me, tried to contact me, but didn’t succeed until Christmas day 25 December 2009 where we started messaging one and other. That day I knew something amazing is about to happen in my life! We then met for coffee at my house 28 December 2009 and went on our first date 2 days later, where he kissed me for the first time in front of my house! We felt indescribable love for one and other, and our love just grew stronger every day!

How long were you together before the wedding proposal?

11 months

Tell us about the proposal

On Sunday morning 21 November 2010, we sat on the roof of our house looking at everything around at a different angle. We just sat there talking until we felt raindrops falling! I then told Wesley we should get down before we are soaked, and as I got up to climb down, we told me to stop. I looked at him and then realized something was up! He pulled the ring out of his pocket, and asked me to marry him! I immediately said yes!

How far in advance did you choose to have your wedding after the proposal? And, why?

The day after the proposal we started looking at dates. Because we were both certain about this and didn’t want to waste any more time to become life partners!

How did you go about the wedding planning process? Did you do it yourself? How long was the planning process? How did you find it?

We knew that we wanted to get married on the beach, so I contacted a view wedding planners to assist! I found Martie van Wyk from Afrika Events, and she helped me put everything together! I loved every second of the planning. We planned the wedding in 9 months.

Did you have a hen party / kitchen tea / stag night / bachelor / bachelorette party? If so, what did you do and what did you enjoy most about it?

I had a bachelorette party. It was lots of fun, and I loved the sexy lingerie I got!  

Wedding Details

We got married on the beach, with an indoor reception at the boathouse in Ballito. My colours were mostly white with a touch of pink. My guests had a non alcoholic cocktail before the ceremony, the ladies received foot jewellery and a parasol, and after the ceremony all the guest had sushi and crostini’s as welcome eats and alcoholic cocktails as drinks! And after that the reception started. I had white square tables with square under plates and square vases. Our wedding cake was made out of sweetie pies. After the reception my guests received an indigenous baby yellow wood tree as a thank you gift.  

Tips and / or advice for future bridal couples?

Enjoy that day, it takes months to plan and it passes with a blink of an eye!

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

The whole day was amazing, and the whole day was a day I will remember for the rest of my life!

Did you go on honeymoon? If so, where? And, why there?

Still planning the honeymoon, it will take place in December. We are looking at going to Maldives!
