Marlene and Deon

Marlene Retief, a graphic designer and Deon Dekker, an auditor, met at a paintball outing with friends and decided to tie the knot after 2 years of being together.

The proposal was romantic...Deon cooked up a storm setup a delicious candlelit dinner accompanied by red wine and Lindt chocolates.  

About the Planning Process

We waited 7 months to get married as we didn't want too long an engagement. The wedding planning was quite stressful due to the having to plan from Pretoria and the wedding was to be held in Cape Town. The wedding venue planned and organised everything for us.

About the Pre-wedding Parties

Marlene

Enjoyed a kitchen tea with lots of presents at a friend's house - I was dressed up as a princess / cleaning lady.

Deon

Dressed up as a pilot, had a bachelors party at a friend's place followed by drinking games.

About the Wedding

We got married just outside Stellenbosch at a venue called Klein Bottelary Kelder. The ceremony was short and sweet. While the guests enjoyed a few drinks, we had time for our photo shoot. After the photos were completed, we walked into the wedding venue and the reception began....with starters being served and speeches beginning.

The dance floor was then opened. Guests were served their food and enjoyed doing their own thing throughout the evening. After dessert, the bouquet and garter throwing was done and then the "cake thing".

After that, it was party time - with music pumping until 12pm.

The wedding was a great success and everyone enjoyed it!

About the Honeymoon

We both love the sea, so we went and spent a few days in Knysna.
