Candice and Domenico
We actually met for the very first time in stellenbosch at my one bridesmaid’s birthday. Now I need to paint this picture a bit, I was a real Durbanville girl who was experiencing this place called Stellenbosch for the first time and when I ordered a glass of wine, I got given a box!!!?? This pub we were in was full of drunk students in slip slops and shorts, so lets just say my stilettos were a wrong fashion choice for this evening. So, uncomfortably I sat drinking my box of wine, and this guy I don’t know slides over in this booth I'm sitting in and asks me “ Hey lady friend, what colour is your g-string?” . You can now imagine my disgust, I politely smiled and walked away. I went home talking about this disgusting pig who confronted me and was told: "Oh, that is Nico". From that moment onwards I referred to him as the disgusting guy from Stellenbosch, and I later found out I was known as the “Ice Queen”.
Not a great start, but saw him again at another friend’s birthday and we ended up going to a club in which you needed to be 21, which I was not. So Nico grabbed me when walking there, took me into the lift, and took me straight up into the club past all the bouncers at the door below. That was the moment he stole my heart.
We dated for 4 years before he popped the question. On the day we were couch shopping as we had made the decision to finally move in together. A completely normal day, we had planned to go to dinner that night at the Italian club, as Nico’s parents had just got back from Italy and had invited my parents to dinner with them, again nothing out of the ordinary. We searched and searched for a couch that day, till he eventually said: "Let's go down to Glen beach and sit on the rocks with an ice-cream and watch the sun go down". Now for Nico this again was not out of the ordinary as we often packed a picnic and headed to the beach after work. We stopped at the shop, grabbed an ice-cream and a couple of chocolates, which was a bit weird as Nico does not eat chocolate like that especially after an ice-cream. Anyway, off we went, sat there for what seemed like ages, till I said to Nico I was getting cold and want go wait at the club. He asked if we could stay a bit longer. I’m thinking “ok ill just freeze to death, its fine”. Then he asked me if I would marry him one day, again nothing out of the ordinary - he always asked me that. He then asked again, and I said of course. Then he whipped out this little red box and asked me again. I was at a loss for words, but obviously said yes.
The run up to the wedding was a long year and a half wait, but we used every day to plan. Once I met Natalie from NDG Events, I knew she thought just like me and with two venues and 130 people, I knew I needed her help and expertise. I can honestly say from the moment we started working together I did not need to worry about a thing. Every suggestion from Natalie was spot on. On the day of my wedding, everyone kept saying how could I be so calm, but I knew Natalie had it all under control and I could have a bit of a groom attitude and just arrive. And as expected everything was perfect, just as we had discussed. The hotel where we got dressed was all ready for us, on Natalie’s instruction. The flowers arrived and I knew for sure I was in good hands, they were perfect. The church looked just like I had dreamed about since a little girl. The transition from the church to the reception was smooth and happened without my worrying about a thing. The reception was breath taking. It did not look like the same place I had seen the week before. The reception ran smoothly as expected. I enjoyed every minute of my wedding thanks to NDG Events. Every guest has commented on what a stunning wedding we had, of which I can only agree.
