Carla and Geordin

Carla and I met in high-school as sweet 16 year-olds. We chatted in biology class, where she helped me with the answers. When we first met I remember being struck by how beautiful her eyes were – big and brown. She sure was beautiful, and I decided then and there that we had to be together. It wasn’t easy; Carla needed some convincing at first. But I persevered and within a couple of months we were dating, and couldn’t possibly have been more into each other. We walked home in the afternoons and chatted for hours together. We clicked so well that by the time we had finished school, I knew this girl was the one. Still, both of us had university lined up ahead of us, so we had to wait a few more years.

The year after we graduated, on a perfect mid-July day, I took Carla up Signal Hill and asked her to marry me in front of a magnificent Cape Town sunset and a crowd of tourists.

Ten months later we were married, on the 24th of April 2010, at the Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville. Our wedding was all we dreamed it to be, perfectly combining the elegant with the rustic. Our colour scheme of red and silver looked stylish and striking, and the fire dancers added a real buzz to the party later on in the evening. But my most striking memory is of how beautiful Carla looked.

We thank God for our marriage, for our future together, and for our wonderful friends and family who are with us all the way.
