My fiancé was already in Cape Town from early in December and I flew down just after Christmas. It’s always been a silly dream of mine to either have a sign indicating I’m the traveller’s ride or have a sign when I land. I got off the plane almost last and was the last on the bus from the landing strip to the terminal and had to get out first. My luggage came out almost immediately so I was walking down the very long passage towards arrivals all alone. In the distance I could see him waiting as there was no throng of people yet. As I got closer I could see he had a sign in his hands. I was ecstatic! Getting even closer the sign had more than just my name on: “Lieslmari, sal jy met my trou?” (Lieslmari, will you marry me?”). I still get goosebumps when I think of it!
