The actual day of my proposal was a surprise. It was two weeks before my birthday and my boyfriend starting looking at the rings I wear and he was putting it on his fingers, obviously trying to figure out my ring size. Then I knew, that he was going to propose on my birthday. But to my surprise, the day came and went, we went out for dinner and he bought me the cutest stuffed jack russell ever, along with my favourite perfume and flowers and chocolates. I honestly expected him to get down on one knee and propose, but he didn’t. At the end of the night, although I was happy with how my birthday went, I was still a bit disappointed.
Two days later, we were at his flat in Centurion and after spending the day shopping, we were relaxing and watching tv. He then asked if I felt like going out and I said no, I was too tired and my feet was aching from walking around the entire day. So he said ok, he will cook me a “lekker” curry for dinner. In a matter of two hours, the food was ready, the table set and candles were lit. To me, it was like every other evening that we had dinner and then at the end of dinner, as I got up to clear the table, my boyfriend got down on one knee.
Now, I am standing in total shock, as he pulled out the ring box, and started to say how much he loves me and I really don’t remember what else he said, but I am certain it was romantic. The only words I do remember was “Will you marry me” as he opened the ring box.
Wow, was I taken aback. This was totally unexpected and without hesitation, i said yes.
That evening has got to be the most memorable event in my life, and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with the man of my dreams!
