Celebrity weddings are made all the more magical by the fact that there is usually little limitation on the budget and some of the world’s best designers, caterers, venues and so on available to the couple. Although the less-than-famous may not be able to put on such lavish productions to celebrate their special day, there are certainly many elements from celebrity weddings that you can copy to create your own fairytale. Here are some of our favourites:
Prettiest Wedding Dresses
Ivanka Trump married Jared Kushner in a stunning gown inspired by Grace Kelly’s. It was elegant and demure, yet sexy, with lace over the chest and shoulders, lace sleeves extending to just above the elbow and the lace on the chest rising to her throat.
Sandra Bullock and Jesse James may be going through their fair share of problems at the moment, but her dress was always sure to make the history books. It was designed by Angel Sanchez and handcrafted using exquisite French lace.
Traditional Style
Christina Aguilera’s dress had strong ties to her Spanish background with ample folds and body at the bottom of the mermaid style. The dress was designed by Christian Lacroix and her bridesmaids wore creations by Kai Milla. Christina married music executive Jordan Bratman in Napa Valley, California.
Pregnant Celebrity Brides
Jessica Alba married Cash Warren in a secret courthouse wedding. We loved the downplayed blue dress and ponytail that made her look as elegant and beautiful as ever.
Ashlee Simpson, on the other hand, threw a lavish rocker-style wedding, complete with black roses, red and black décor and chandeliers to compliment her baby belly. Her dress was ivory lace, designed by Monique Lhuillier.
Best Bridal Hair
When Jennifer Aniston married Brad Pitt all those years ago, she kept her hair simple, yet stunning. It was left loose over her shoulders, giving her a clean, natural, innocent and carefree look. Enhanced with very loose curls, it had plenty of body and a healthy shine.
When Nikki Cox married Jay Mohr (2006), she pinned her auburn hair up, leaving whispy pieces to hang on and around her face. The rest of her hair was curled and twisted into a loose bun that hung just above the nape of her neck.
Unlikely Wedding Dress
Avril Lavigne is known for her rebellious rocker glam, but her wedding look showed quite another side to this wild child. Her hair was blonde and left to tumble onto her shoulders, her dress was traditional white with scalloped detail around the bottom, her flowers traditional roses and her bridesmaids all donned candy-pink frocks. She married Deryck Whibley in California, 2005.
Gwen Stefani also defied her rebellious rock look when she married the gorgeous Gavin Rossdale in 2002. Her dress was floor-length and puffed, changing from white on the bodice through paler shades of pink to cerise near the hemline.
Best Bouquet
Milla Jovovich had, without a doubt, one of the most stunning, yet simple, bouquets we have yet to see. It took advantage of the different shades of white found in natural blooms, boasting Phalaenopsis Orchids, Marroussia Roses and Hydrangeas.
Sexiest Wedding Dress
Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s wedding was made sexy merely by the fact that it was these two gorgeous celebrities in one room. However, her body-hugging mermaid-style dress certainly helped. Created by Dolce & Gabbana, this slim fit was characterised by black floral embellishments at the point at which the dress began to flare.
Most Expensive Celeb Weddings
Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar – $2.5 million
Paul McCartney and Heather Mills – $3 million (the dress alone cost $50 000)
