The 35-year-old grandson of former South Africa President, Nelson Mandela, recently married the beautiful Anais Grimaud. Inkosi Zwelivelile Mandela is the chief of the AmaThembu nation in the South African province of the Eastern Cape, while his 19-year-old bride is from the Mauritian island of Reunion. This high-profile couple is set to feature in the future, not only for their political influence but also because this marriage caused quite an upset with Mandela’s first wife, from whom he has been separated.
His new bride has been renamed Nobubele, according to Xhosa tradition. Recently released photographs of the two are characterised by broad smiles and loving gazes into one another’s eyes. Their wedding was traditional; with the bride’s face covered by a beaded veil and beautiful beaded messages pinned to her ochre skirt. He looked impressive in his headband and animal skin. Despite the drama caused because of Mandela’s hurt first wife prior to the ceremony, both he and Nobubele radiated absolute contentment in their excitement at being united in marriage, a true testimony to their love.
