So many bridal couples ask their photographer for something different and unique. And there are loads of photographers available that will do stunning pictures with interesting effects and novel poses. None of these come quite as close to being ultimately ‘different’ as the photographs on www.freetoflaunt.com (previously known as www.trashthedress.com). This website shows many couples that have opted for a completely new approach to wedding photography.
As the original name implies, most of the photographs show brides and grooms in positions and location that would never normally be chosen because of the potential damage they could cause to the outfits. These include bungee jumping, swimming, surfing, skiing and even splashing one another with tins of paint while dressed in their formal wedding attire.
Of course, these pictures are taken after the wedding and reception and, sometimes, even several years after the event. After having had their wedding dress hanging up in the corner of the cupboard for months or years, many brides are still afraid to damage it in any way. As the site states, though, only 5% of the clothing is actually destroyed as a result of the photo shoot. Most of them can be dry cleaned to their original condition.
This is a fun and completely contemporary way to remember your special day. If you choose to have these kinds of photographs done, be sure to discuss your desires with your photographer carefully, but allow a lot of flexibility for your personalities and his direction to shine through.
