Overview
There is a peaceful valley in the Lowveld all visitors vow to return to. The Sabie River Valley lies at the edge of the escarpment of the misty Drakensberg Mountains which towers above the subtropical, bushveld below. On a hillside overlooking this valley lies Umbhaba Lodge.
The peace and tranquility at Umbhaba, along with the seclusion of the Lowveld is the ideal departure point for excursions in to the Kruger National Park , the majestic Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Pot Holes. Aside from luxury accommodation in a total of thirty rooms, the lodge is perfect for romantic weddings and high powered conferences.
Thirty suites are tastefully decorated, each in individual style. All rooms are temperature controlled for your comfort and are surrounded by flowing waterfalls and lush subtropical gardens.
The Induna Honeymoon Suite, sprawling over three levels, comprises a romantic Jacuzzi, en suite bathroom and mini bar. The private patio presents a welcome opportunity for relaxing with a sundowner, while embracing the abundance of bird and animal life after a day of game viewing.

The African Tribal Suites are spacious with separate lounges and bedrooms, a fire place on either side, four poster beds, en-suite bathrooms, twin showers and sunken window baths with spectacular sunset views over the Sabie Valley and hippo pools.
Reflecting the history of majestic elephants found in the Kruger National Park through the years , the Tusker Rooms have sunken corner baths and private patios surrounded by the sounds of cascading waterfalls from the surrounding water features.
Enjoy a cocktail, glass of port or ice cold beer in the bar or lounge after a day of game viewing in the Kruger National Park. With an inviting fire place, comfortable lounge and a wooden deck with exquisite view, this is the perfect venue to reminisce about the day’s excitement.
Activities in this breathtaking natural setting include day and night safaris, helicopter excursions, hot air ballooning, fishing, hiking and horse riding.
Directions
From Johannesburg, take the N12 highway towards eMalahleni (Witbank), after which the road becomes the N4 to Nelspruit.
Stay on the N4, passing eMalahleni (Witbank), the Middelburg toll gate (R33,00), Shell Ultra City,Middelburg, Belfast, Engen One Stop, Milly's Star Stop, Machadodorp and the Machadodorp toll gate (R49,00),Waterval Boven, Waterval Onder and the Sappi Station at Ngodwana. When entering Nelspruit, carry on past the first traffic light and turn left at the second set of traffic lights onto the R40 road. Proceed on the R40 to White River. Upon entering White River, turn left at the first traffic light, marked Uplands College. Approx. 200m.Further is the next traffic light, turn right (marked Hazyview, Baghdad Cafe, Kruger National Park). Pass the first traffic light. At the second traffic light, the road connects with the R40. Turn left towards Hazyview. Carry on straight on the R40. Proceed straight on towards Hazyview and about 43 kms after White River (2 km before Hazyview) on the left hand side of the road, you will see the Lodge.
