When it comes to wedding cakes, nothing surprises us anymore. Or so we thought… until we came across water fountain cakes. This isn’t an interesting description for a cake design – it actually means exactly what it says: A fountain built into a wedding cake.
Before you stop and say “but why?” take a moment to think of how whimsical a cake of this stature could be. Whether the water fountain passes through the cake, or is positioned below it, the fact remains that trickling water will certainly add to your romantic ambiance.
The key thing to bear in mind is that the water should never touch the cake – because no one likes soggy cake! Perhaps your hubby-to-be is an engineer or maybe you have a friend who specialises in magical décor who can assist you in building the fountain. From there, it’s up to the cake designer to work their magic, and construct a cake around your fountain.
If you like the idea of a fountain, but you’re slightly deterred by the effort it requires, why not settle for a chocolate fountain instead? Served with plenty of fresh berries, marshmallows, biscuits and meringues, this ‘cake alternative’ is interactive and delicious all at the same time.
